Meeting with the Lighting Supervisor
We spoke to George Smith - the man helping us with music videos - and with his help, and the help of Matt, Luke and Phil, we changed our idea of having a throne in a forest set in the studio with a grungy tribal theme to using projections of a narrative we will film in the studio, and we will project this narrative onto the trees of a forest.
- Our video needs more depth to it - the idea came across as too bland and flat. Also, the set would look too flat and on the screen the idea of a forest would not come across properly as there would be no depth of field in the studio.
- · We are planning on using breakup gobos in our video so that we get the images and shapes of forest/woods in it.
- · Our group needs to collect up tonnes of leaves and dry them out so that that they will be ready for shoot day.
- · We plan on having the girls chasing Gustavo through the studio, then projecting it across different trees so that we get this image of someone running across trees
- · The main word that was brought up in discussion about the video was the word "trippy" - we are looking to have the video present the people as all very dystopian and dysfunctional.
- · An inspiration we took for the video was the story of 'Lord of The Flies'
- · The video is going to be really bland therefore we are looking to add some colour to the video - perhaps some blood shed from the guy as the girls capture him?
- · We like the idea that the characters are all from an urban environment therefore they are the tribes from the city - they will be wearing suites and formal clothes to add to this idea strand
- · Rather than having a green screen in the studio, we are going to have a blue screen - the green leaves and shrubbery would cancel out the green screen and it would not show up in the video
- · The new idea is to: film everything in the studio, but have the entire background black so that later it would look better. We then plan on projecting everything from the studio onto different sections of the forest and creating this other-worldly effect by having people being projected onto trees. It would also benefit from having the studio all black
